Mulching is one of the most practical jobs you can do with a compact tractor. Instead of carting away cut grass, the flail mulcher shreds it on the spot into fine material that stays on the surface, decomposes naturally and returns nutrients to the soil. The result: a healthier lawn, less work and zero waste.

What does a flail mulcher do and how does it work?

The flail mulcher is attached to the compact tractor via the three-point hitch and driven by the power take-off (PTO). Inside, a drum rotor with blades or hammers rotates, cutting and shredding all vegetation. The shredded material falls onto the soil surface — and that is essentially the end of the job. No raking, no carting away.

Three parameters are key: working width (the larger the area, the more a wider mulcher pays off), minimum tractor output (every flail mulcher has its own power requirement) and blade type — hammers are more resistant to stones and handle all-round work. Y-blades give a finer mulch on level areas but wear faster. They are not a suitable choice for dense vegetation.
