Forestry Compact Tractors
Kubota compact tractors for forestry work — machines from 24 to 60 hp, weighing 1,020 to 1,969 kg, priced from 229,000 to 560,000 CZK incl. VAT. The median price is around 389,000 CZK.
We select machines for forestry by three criteria: all-wheel drive, sufficient weight for winch work and robustness for operation on uneven terrain. We complete the set with a forestry winch with a pulling force of up to 2 tonnes and advise on protecting the machine.

How to choose a tractor for forestry
Weight is decisive, not power. When skidding a log, the winch pulls the machine backwards and downwards, and a light tractor starts to slide before the winch reaches its pulling force. That is why this category starts at 1,020 kg and for regular work we recommend machines over 1,400 kg.
The second thing is the drive. All machines in this category have 4WD — without it they would not cope in the forest. The third is ground clearance and underbody protection, as in the forest you drive over stumps and stones.
Recommended machines by workload
| Use | Models | Power | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Occasional work, firewood | GL240, GL27, GL280 | 24–28 hp | 1,020–1,310 kg |
| Regular skidding | GL32, GL321, GL281, GL337 | 32–37 hp | approx. 1,215–1,500 kg |
| Demanding and year-round use | GL467, KL33, KL340, GL53 | 34–53 hp | 1,400–1,740 kg |
| Heaviest use | GL600, KL550 | 55–60 hp | up to 1,969 kg |
What to watch out for
- A winch needs a counterweight. Without sufficient machine weight, its pulling force is just a number on paper.
- Underbody and radiator protection. In the forest, these are the first things to suffer. Check their condition when inspecting the machine.
- Tyres with a coarser tread are a must in the forest. A turf tread will not grip anything in mud or on pine needles.
- Cab or protective frame. Falling branches are a real risk in the forest — operator protection is not a minor detail.
- A 540 rpm PTO shaft is the standard the vast majority of forestry winches are built for.
Frequently asked questions
How powerful a winch do I need?
For firewood and ordinary thinning, a winch with a pulling force of around 2 tonnes, which we supply, is enough. What matters most, however, is that the tractor's weight matches it — otherwise the winch will pull the machine over.
Is a compact tractor enough for forestry, or do I need a large tractor?
For thinning, firewood and work in your own woodland, a compact tractor with a winch is fully sufficient and has an advantage over a large tractor in narrow rides. For large-volume logging its capacity is no longer enough.
Does the machine need a cab?
Not necessarily, but protecting the operator from branches is sensible in the forest. Machines with a cab can be found in the compact tractors with cab category.
Can you supply a tractor and winch as a set?
Yes. Tell us what kind of woodland you manage and how often, and we will put together a combination of machine and winch to match. Call +420 737 875 828.
